Teaching purpose


  • Understand the basic principles of the spectroscopy RMN and the mass spectrometry, two very wide-spread analytical methods in biology
  • Deepen the methods of signal processing used in this two spectroscopy
  • Discover the applications of these methods in modern biology

Programme


First part: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

  • Principle of the magnetic resonance
  • The spectrometer NMR, the chain of measure and signal processing
  • Applications: three-dimensional structures of biomolecular proteins and interaction, quality control of medicines

Second part: The mass spectrometry

  • Principle of mass spectrometers, methods of detection
  • Application of the mass spectrometry in proteomics.
  • 2D spectral analysis in ion cyclotron resonance by Fourier transformation
